Internationally-known television actor David Hasselhoff just placed his home - dubbed the "Fortress of Hoffitude" - on the market.

His five bedroom, six bath, Encino, California home is on the market for $3.5 million red Speedos, err, dollars.

For a man flashy enough to sport a sequined jacket, his home, the "Fortress of Hoffitude," sure does disappoint. Did he trade his surf board for the entire catalog of Crate and Barrel? Take a look...

Sure, when you stage your home for sale the general recommendation is beige and boring. But Hasselhoff? He's taken predictable interiors to heart. Perhaps we should remember he hosted "America's Got Talent,", not "America's Got Taste."

For example:

A completely beige kitchen. He probably never eats whole grains or oats. How could he, if he can't see them against this beige room?

A palm-tree-frond fan in his dining room? No international actor -- certainly no one with a house at this price point --should have fixtures available to the unfilmed masses. That's a rule.

Finally, what's up with this boring, beige media room? The only unique detail seems to be the fur-covered footstool.

One thing the "Fortress of Hoffitude" does have going for it? Lush, and lovely, exteriors. Thumbs up there. Take a virtual tour of the entire estate here -- but be warned, turn off your speakers. The sappy music will make you wish you were a drowning character on "Baywatch" -- just to end the misery.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS HOUSE. IT IS BEAUTIFUL AND ANYONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD LOVE TO HAVE IT. THE PERSON WHO WROTE THIS ARTICLE SHOULD HAVE THEIR HEAD EXAMINED TO EVEN HAVE THE EMPTYHEADED AUDACITY TO CRITICIZE SUCH A LUXURIOUS HOME. IF THE AUTHOR CRITICIZES THIS HE WILL CRITICIZE ANYTHING THAT IS BEAUTIFUL IN THIS WORLD. GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree...the writer needs to get a reality check! That home is gorgeous, we should all be so lucky. Get a life.

Isn't that the truth! There is nothing wrong with this! It's bright and airy and if someone doesn't like beige, they can paint the whole place! If you can afford 3.5 mil, you can afford paint. I think he went for neutral tones because he's a guy!. Also, what's wrong with Crate and Barrel. I agree, the person who wrote this seems like a jealous 7th grader!!

this was a beautyful home, nothing wrong with that and I am sure well worth the money they are asking for it. I'm a Realtor and see lots of properties, this guy made it sounds like it was some cheep looking place and it was not. This is a home that a person can live in , not a place where you don't even feel right sitting on the sofa.I would say very elegant and still comfortable.Great job David H.
Wondering what kind of home this reporter has( that is if he has one at all ) , i bet it wont win any awards at all.

I would have to agree with the writer. I'm not impressed by this home. It seems a bit outdated. And what is with the attitude towards the writer? This is merely someone's opinion. Some will like it, some will not. Why the hostiity over an article. To the person that said the writer needs to get a life, What????? It sounds like you may need to get a life. I live in a 1.2 million dollar home so I'm not jealous like some would suggest. I simply don't like what I see in these pics.

However folks for 3.5 million dollars the house better masterbate me on command. It's an overpriced has been house. Just like the owner. But the owner is not a "has been", he's a "never was" raging alcoholic

I agree with you. I think it's beautiful. I was staring at the pics, and trying to figure out what's "wrong" with it. Guess I should be trying to figure out what's "wrong" with the writer instead. I would love to have a home that looks that nice. I don't need anything fancy, and apparently neither does David. Sounds like my kind of man.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL HOME. THE PERSON THAT WROTE THIS ARTICLE MUST HAVE NO TASTE AT ALL.

I agree, the home looks simple, easy and comfortable, what's wrong with that? To bad other celebrities don't have more common sense and try to live a more comfortable live and stop thinking they are such prima donna's.

meg on Tuesday, Feb 2nd at 01:26:PM said...

I have to agree with you. This is one of the few celebraty homes that does not scream " I am whomever, hear me, see me!" I think it is move in ready! I'd buy it!

LuLu on Tuesday, Feb 2nd at 04:06:PM said...

The house and grounds are stunning! The intetrior may not be to everyone's taste but I'd say it's OK. After all a house needs to be more than a bunch of crap to impress your friends. It should reflect the owner, their intetrests and likes and it should make them feel as if they've come "home" at the end of the day, to a place where they can relax. If the owner likes it and is happy there, then that's all that truly matters.

I agree. I think it is understated and that is always a plus in my book. I actually like the earth tones and prefer this decor to that of many celebrity homes I've seen in magazines.

Whats up with the writer of this article? I am a chef and would love to have a kitchen just like this. 3.5 mil,Thats about what you'd pat for a house in Leesburg Va. da-duh Mr Writer

sharon on Tuesday, Feb 2nd at 07:20:AM said...

By the way, $3.5 seems like a good price for that property. That isn't that much for a California mansion.

Mike on Tuesday, Feb 2nd at 07:22:AM said...

Sorry to contradict, but the home some of you are describing as lovely is a glaring example of a kitsch-furnished McMansion. Opulence is one thing, good taste another.
