6848 Velasco Ave., Dallas, TXI want a big house with a big porch so I can sit outside to relax on sunny days, and drink lemonade while sitting in a rocking chair and reading. I know it's a lot to ask for, but the house at 6848 Velasco Ave. in Dallas, Texas, has all that and more for $1,499,000.

Not that I have that much money to spend on a house, but this five-bedroom, five-bath house of 5,774 square feet looks perfect at that price.

The house is in the Lakewood neighborhood in East Dallas, a neighborhood I've written about before here at HousingWatch. The neighborhood is popular with people who want to be near city life but don't like a lot of traffic. The area and nearby White Rock Lake are also popular with cyclists, runners and hikers.

6848 Velasco Ave., Dallas, TxThe home was built in 1981 and is on a half acre of land, with a pool and recently updated with granite, travertine, carpet and paint. The home, according to the real estate agent, has been selected for a new reality show, and is part of the Lakewood Home Tour selection. It's popular with location scouts who have used the home for numerous commercial shoots.

That tells you a lot about the house, that it looks grand enough for location scouts to like, but what really sells me is the wraparound porch. I can easily see myself relaxing on a couch, rocking chair or swing outside. If only I had the $1.49 million.

Similar homes in the neighborhood have an average for sale price of $1,121,000. A nearby home for sale at 6707 Lake Circle Drive is offered at $899,000 for four bedrooms and four bathrooms in 4,884 square feet.
