Singer and songwriter Carole King must be feeling the earth move under her feet, to paraphrase one of her classics. She recently put her 128-acre central Idaho ranch back on the market for $16 million.

That's down from $19 million, in an attempt to signal potential buyers that it's not too late to buy the impressive piece of private park along a national forest near Stanley.

King, who has lived on the ranch since 1981, isn't leaving the state of Idaho completely. She's still keeping a condo in Ketchum, a resort town where she'll probably crash while touring with James Taylor during their "Troubadour Reunion" tour. The two old friends are playing a show on July 12 in nearby Sun Valley, Idaho, at the Sun Valley Center for the Arts.

Taylor owns a house in Washington, Mass., in the Berkshires.

To call the Robinson Bar Ranch a colossal property would be an understatement. Not exactly for the everyday Idahoan, it is perfect for a wealthy someone who wants to lay low and away from frenetic city life to accomplish perhaps, a new album. With that in mind, the compound has a professional recording studio along with a 7,300-square-foot lodge, a private residence, a caretaker's home, horse barns -- and if "You've Got a Friend" or two -- guest cabins.

The ranch was originally for sale in 2006 at its former price, but was taken off the market due to issues with a bridge on a U.S. Forest Service road. It has since been fixed.

The prolific songwriter, whose most memorable hits include "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" (co-written with ex-husband Gerry Goffin) and "So Far Away," also retains real estate in California and New York. One reason she's selling the ranch, though, is to spend more time with family in Los Angeles.

King isn't the only famous Ketchum resident. Steve Miller of the Steve Miller Band also calls Ketchum home. Actor Gary Cooper and writer Ernest Hemingway enjoyed the town's isolation. Ketchum also is where Hemingway took his life. He is buried in the Ketchum Cemetery, as is his granddaughter, the model and actress Margaux Hemingway. Demi Moore and her family have a home in Hailey, just outside the popular Sun Valley town.

With the expanse of forestland that King's listing boasts, one can only assume it will make its next owner feel like a natural woman (or man).

Tess: For 20 years people have been buying property at ever-inflated prices, but what happened in the last 10 really put real-estate in a bad light. Prospective owners were convinced they "needed" 2000+ sq.ft. homes and that their combined incomes would easilly pay the mortgage. I guess even wealthy folks like Carol must suffer for our collective foolisness, and the numbers sound just about right--a loss of 20 to 25%.

AWH!! There are people out of work would love a portion of the 16M just to keep there homes and items and a place for their familes. To bad so sad for Carole King. Not a tear I will shed.

This would be a mere loss for King. It must be nice if Miller lives there; still enjoy dancing to his music. Hemingway offed himself there the same day as the great writter L.F. Celine. Celine, the MD chose an OD and Ernest picked a shotgun.

I'm glad it's Carole King all tangled up with so much money, like a ball and chain, and not me!

I have a Mansion in Heaven, purchased for me with the shed blood of Jesus Christ on Calvary's cross, where rust and moth don't corrupt, and where thieves don't break through and steal. Down here I have just a cottage below, a little silver, and a little gold. But one day yonder, I'll never more wander, but walk the streets that are purest gold!

The greatest part of that heavenly experience however, will be seeing Jesus, my Master and LORD, and hearing those most cherished words; "Well done, good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord. Thou hast been faithful over a few things, be thou made Ruler over many cities."

Maranatha! Even so come, Lord Jesus.

I am sorry that you are so nuerotic that you have to live in a Castle in the Air and believe in fairytales.

How does this equate to a $3 million loss? The article doesn't say what she paid for the property, but unless it was $19 million, then this isn't a loss, it's just a reduction of the selling price. Does AOL know what real journalism and editing are...?

Unless she refinanced this to the hilt, I doubt there is any real loss. If she has owned the property since 1981. @30 years. I dare say a 16 mill sale will yield millions in profit.

If she lived and OWNED the placed since l981, she's probably NOT losing any money on it. Probably making a nice PROFIT, even if she's asking 3 million less than originally. What did she pay back in '81???!!!

If she bought the ranch in 1981 I don't think she paid 19 million for it.... so I don't believe she'll loose any money... probably bought it for 3 million.... so if she sells it I believe she'll make a nice equity sum..... so don't go crying to me on here.........
