As of the 2010 census, its population was 790. [3] Nine Mile Prairie Township was named for a 9-mile (14 km) long prairie located within its borders.
Round Prairie Township covers an area of 34.48 square miles (89.3 km 2) and contains the unincorporated settlements of Carrington, near the headwaters of the Missouri River tributary Middle River, and Boydsville, near another Missouri River tributary (Cedar Creek) bordering Boone County, although no incorporated settlements.

It was built about 1845, and is a two-story, five-bay, frame I-house with a two-story rear ell. The front facade features a two-story porch supporting six hollow square wood columns.
