A user can zoom in and out of either of them independently of the zoom level of each. As the user drags the map, the grid squares are downloaded from the server and inserted into the page.
The Google Maps street map is offset by 50–500 meters from its satellite imagery. Yahoo! Maps also displayed the street map without major errors when compared to the satellite imagery. MapQuest overlays OpenStreetMap data perfectly as well.
