Over the distances you're talking about Google My Maps does draw a curved line. Try it. The reason is that all Google geo products draw the shortest distance between two points on a sphere (Great Circle). On a Mercator projection map that line looks curved.
Recommended Answer. Feb 21, 2020. I've wondered about this myself. I'm guessing the initial milage is a straight line between the two points and the mileage always increases when you start because of all the turns and curves you are forced to take while driving.
