Upper Klamath Lake is the largest remnant of Lake Modoc, a giant pluvial lake that existed in the region until about 10,000 years ago. At its largest, Lake Modoc covered over 1,000 square miles (2,600 km 2), joining Upper Klamath, Lower Klamath, and Tule Lakes, as well as all of the major wetlands in the upper Klamath River basin, into a contiguous body of water.

Steele Lake is a small sized lake in north central Alberta.It is located about 180 kilometres (110 mi) north of the city of Edmonton.Named for Ira John Steele, a soldier killed during World War I, the lake was originally named Cross Lake, for its distinctive shape, and lent that name to the surrounding Cross Lake Provincial Park.
The archipelago of islands and exposed ledges are the visible high points of that reef. A state-owned public launch is located on the southwest shore of the lake in East Monmouth. Low hills and ridges surround the lake, and Monks Hill and Allen Hill rise a few miles north of the lake, while a gray line of hills form a barrier near Sabattus.
The lake is accessed from Highways 4, 26, 697, 674, 769, and 204. Jackfish River, located at the lake's southern end, is the primary outflow. It exits the lake at the southern end and flows south into the North Saskatchewan River. Charette Creek, Jackfish Creek, and a short stream from Murry Lake at Cochin are the primary inflows. [2]
