In google maps, you can click on the "hamburger" menu thing and go to "Your Places." Then you can click on the maps tab under "saved" and "create a new map." You can add a layer and import your data there, plus make your own notes and stuff. Pretty easy once you know it's there. 1.
Maybe the 4th gen iPhone will have a gps chip that's actually accurate enough to provide this. Right now, if you want to do geocaching or accurate mapping for turn-by-turn directions, you have to use an external Bluetooth gps unit with roqy gps.
I use Komoot, which is pretty good. Komoot. Free, with one-time payments of you want to download maps for offline use. Bikegpx is free and simple. Links with ridewithgps route numbers as well. brouter. It's online, free, super customisable. 538K subscribers in the cycling community.
Unfortunately you can’t import GPX into Google maps and get turn by turn navigation. You’d have to recreate the route in Google maps using your laptop and then save it and open it up on your phone instead. Or try another app like you said. It might be worth getting a beeline second hand on ebay.
Switched to the fenix 7 solar sapphire about a year ago when I unintentionally rolled over my Apple Watch with a truck! Very happy with my switch, the only thing I miss is being able to send turn by turn directions from phone to my watch. Is anyone aware of an app or some way to do this with the fenix?
Strava is good for tracking. It's not a good route planner unless there has been some kind of recent update. Honestly, Apple's maps are ok. Make sure it knows you're riding a bike. And you don't need the screen on all the time. The watch will give a haptic when a turn is coming up. 2.
Would also guide you back to route if you detoured. komoot can import gpx-Files and also gives audio turn directions. But komoot is not fully free if you want to plan routes outside of the one free maps-section you chose at the beginning. Any mapping technology on a phone with the alerts turned on. IE Google Maps.
I have alltrails pro. when i do navigate on alltrails, it does not give turn by turn directions. it notifies only after i miss the turns. I had to backtrack many times. Is there way to get turn by turn voice directions while navigating a hiking trails using alltrails or any other service.
What I'm looking for is a good way to do turn by turn with U-Turns at dead end streets and the ability to ride around the same block several times without the app/site bonking at me. I'm doing the wandrer.earth ride every street and need a great route planning site. Someone recommended Strava routes to fit my needs, but that is not free.
I have a 23 SEL and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I haven't been able to figure out why. Using either Google Maps or Waze doesn't matter. As long as you don't have the built in navigation on the instrument cluster it should show turn by turn directions when you start navigating.
