January 17, 1974. Delaware Avenue Historic District is a national historic district located at Buffalo, New York, United States, and Erie County. It is located along the west side of Delaware Avenue (New York State Route 384) between North Street to the South and Bryant Street to the North.
The hotel is the masterpiece of Louise Blanchard Bethune (1856–1913), the first professional woman architect in the United States. The original building was designed by the firm of Bethune, Bethune & Fuchs and built between 1902 and 1911. Additions from 1916–1917 and 1924–1926 were completed by Esenwein and Johnson.
The Delaware District neighborhood is in the west central part of Buffalo. The neighborhood is located along Delaware Avenue (NY 384). The neighborhood is bordered on the south by Allentown. The northern boundary of the neighborhood abuts Forest Lawn Cemetery and Delaware Park. Its eastern boundary is Main Street (NY 5).
