A1 (M) is a series of four motorway sections in the UK that form part of the A1 road from London to Edinburgh. Learn about the history, route, junctions and features of each section, as well as the proposal to renumber one section as M1.
The A1 is the longest numbered road in the UK, connecting London and Edinburgh. It follows the historic Great North Road and has several sections of motorway, bypasses and inns along its route.
