Meadville is a city in and the county seat of Crawford County, Pennsylvania, United States. [7] The population was 13,050 at the 2020 census. [8] The first permanent settlement in Northwestern Pennsylvania, Meadville is within 40 miles (64 km) of Erie and within 90 miles (140 km) of Pittsburgh.

Lake Oahe (/ oʊ ˈ w ɑː. h iː /) is a large reservoir behind the Oahe Dam on the Missouri River; it begins in central South Dakota and continues north into North Dakota in the United States. The lake has an area of 370,000 acres (1,500 km 2 ) and a maximum depth of 205 ft (62 m). [ 1 ]
Beyond the landing, the canal turned northwest and flowed into the lake. Engineering on these projects included raising the Conneaut Lake dam by 11 feet (3.4 m) and adding another short canal to carry water to a pumping station for the Beaver and Erie. The French Creek Feeder was completed to Meadville in 1828 and reached Conneaut Lake in 1834. [4]
