Jackson Township was created December 25, 1875 [4] from the former northeastern sector of Liberty Township and the northwestern sector of Nine Mile Prairie Township—as one can see by comparing the 1867 and 1897 maps of Callaway County townships. This took the city of Auxvasse, out of Liberty Township and put it in the new Jackson Township.
Geography. Caldwell Township covers an area of 23.38 square miles (60.6 km 2) and while containing no incorporated settlements, it has included the unincorporated community of "Dixie". It contains seven cemeteries: Bush, Caldwell, Cave, Foster, James, Knight and Mount Tabor; as well as the streams of Caldwell Branch, Prairie Fork and Prime Creek.
Liberty Township today covers an area of 38.45 square miles (99.6 km 2 ), and while containing no incorporated towns, does include the unincorporated settlements of Hatton and Concord. The township includes one cemetery, named Concord, plus the streams of Fourmile Branch and Leeper Branch which are tributaries of Auxvasse Creek to the south.
