Papagayo Peninsula is located on the north Pacific coast of Costa Rica in the northwest province of Guanacaste. It is located in the Golfo de Papagayo and was formed by volcanic activity as the Caribbean tectonic plate continuously overrode the Cocos Plate and by subsequent weather erosion. [1]
In the mid-20th century, Golfito was a major banana growing region (also resulting in it being a major port of southern Costa Rica), but a combination of worker unrest, declining foreign markets, rising export taxes and banana disease led to the closing of the United Fruit Company in 1985.

The Savegre River (Spanish pronunciation: [saˈβeɣɾe]) is a river in Costa Rica that flows to the Pacific Ocean.The source is at Quebrada Providencia in the Cerro de la Muerte, Cordillera de Talamanca, at 3,491 m (11,453 ft) above sea level, and after receiving the Division River, it travels 41 linear kilometers of rugged topography to flow into the Pacific Ocean.
Tibás was created on 26 June 1914 by decree 31. [3] It was formerly known as San Juan del Murciélago and was meant to be the capital of the country, at least according to ex-president Braulio Carrillo, [4] this is the reason the town was originally designed with such a neat array of perfectly aligned blocks, cut by the streets running from North to South and the avenues from East to West.
The most notable battle was the Battle of San Isidro de El General. This battle was carried out at around 6:30 a.m. when 200 government forces engaged the revolutionaries at the city's central plaza. The fight was won by José Figueres Ferrer and his revolutionary forces, which secured the southern Pacific region of Costa Rica in rebel hands. [5]
