In 2004, the 130-acre (0.53 km 2) parcel directly south of Lake Mykee owned by Delbert Payne and his family since 1928 began to be developed into a new, unrelated subdivision named Southwind Meadows. Streets for an initial plat of 24 lots were poured in late 2004 and early 2005 by Stockman Construction and accepted by Callaway County.
Jackson Township was created December 25, 1875 [4] from the former northeastern sector of Liberty Township and the northwestern sector of Nine Mile Prairie Township—as one can see by comparing the 1867 and 1897 maps of Callaway County townships. This took the city of Auxvasse, out of Liberty Township and put it in the new Jackson Township.
Liberty Township today covers an area of 38.45 square miles (99.6 km 2 ), and while containing no incorporated towns, does include the unincorporated settlements of Hatton and Concord. The township includes one cemetery, named Concord, plus the streams of Fourmile Branch and Leeper Branch which are tributaries of Auxvasse Creek to the south.
